This model from Casio’s iconic G-Shock range has the signature sporty design, giving it unisex appeal.

One of the big attractions of the G-Shock collection is that watches are shock resistant and are durable enough to take the knocks of daily wear.

This particular model has a number of additional benefits, particularly the pedometer feature which allows you to track your steps.

As well as the basic step count, you can view your step count history, a graph showing the number of steps you take per hour, and your progress towards your step target.

There is also a reminder with an indicator and alert to let you know if you’ve not taken enough steps within a certain period.

The LED light for the face and the LED backlight for the digital display are useful features, especially for running or exercising at night.

The hand shift feature moves hands out of the way when activated, giving you a clear view of the digital display.

It took a little while to get to grips with the features but once we did, we appreciated the additional functions which add to the attractive design.

Casio are often associated with digital watches, but as this model demonstrates they also produce some eye catching analog options.

This quartz watch has an unusual and striking red leather band. The dial features a gold ion plated bezel with a glitter-look inset for added interest.

Three subdials (showing 24 hour, day and date) sit on the face, standing out against the white dial with a sunburst effect radiating from the centre.

There are gold hour markers and hour, minute and second hands making the time easy to read, although the sundials are quite small to read clearly.

This watch works equally well as a day to day accessory or as a dress watch, and the unusual colouring of the strap makes it an attractively different timepiece.

This low-priced sport watch has a timeless, retro design. The simple black resin band has a ribbed effect and fastens with a buckle closure.

The squared face has a rectangular digital display at the centre and is edged with a blue border, with three silver push buttons around the outside (timer, mode, start/stop).

The main feature that makes this a sport watch (other than the design) is the 1/100 stopwatch which is simple to use, though the small size of the display does make it difficult to read information quickly if you’re on a run, for example.

There’s also a daily alarm feature, but we found the alarm to be pretty quiet and we’ve seen similar comments from other users.

If you’re looking for a budget, functional watch for daily wear, this could be it!

Casio’s Baby G range was designed as a scaled-down womens version of the popular G-Shock style.

This model is aimed at travellers, as it can display two time zones – one on the main face and a second, such as your home city time, on a subdial at the 6 o’clock position.

The subdial even has an aeroplane on the minute hand reflecting the travel theme. When you want to flip the times over, simply press a button without any fussing around with manual adjustments.

This watch is shock resistant and there’s a durable rubber case meaning this can stand up to day to day use or the knocks and bumps of travelling.

The image on the face is apparently a view of the Earth from a spacecraft, although this isn’t immediately obvious!

One frustration was that the hour markers are clear in some positions but in others, the chunky numerals make it hard to know the exact hour position at a quick look.

Another option from Casio’s Baby-G range, this model offers both an analog and digital display.

The watch is largely black, with a black resin face and a black plastic strap. As with the rest of this range the watch is shock resistant which is ideal if you’re looking for a timepiece that can stand up to your active lifestyle. The hour markers and text around the face and bezel are in a bright and vibrant neon pink. The hour and minute hands also have neon pink at the tips.

However, we found it quite difficult to read the analog display as the hands are lost against the background. There are lots of useful features, such as a stopwatch, multiple time zones, five daily alarms and the auto calendar. The functions are great, but we were frustrated that the basic display was more problematic.
