1. Timex – Expedition Quartz Firefighter Watch
Timex is well-known in the market for producing durable and affordable watches, so there’s no surprise that this Expedition model brings so much value for the price. It’s also a field watch, which may make it look a bit bulky, but it does a fantastic job in any environment.
The stainless steel case is brushed and has an aged aspect that fits extremely nicely with the brown leather strap. Also, the bezel gives the watch a rugged aspect and it’s marked with the cardinal points and the degrees of a circle.
The deal has a beige creamy color and features both 12h & 24h formats, with an outer ring of markings for seconds. The watch uses Arabic numerals for both formats and there is a date window in the 3 o’clock position. Overall, the face of the watch is very pleasant and easy to read.
Equipped with a three-hands Quartz movement, the watch is fitted with Indiglo night-light with night mode, which is extremely helpful when there is no other light source around. The minute and hour hands are also lumed, which improves visibility in low light conditions.
To activate the Indiglo, you have the press on the crown. The light won’t stay on for long, but it’s enough to let you see the time and date. Speaking of which, to set the time and date, you will also use the crown. This is a push/pull crown with two stages – you pull to the maximum upward position and you set the time and then, if you push, you’ll get to the position where you can set the date.
While this Timex is a hefty timepiece, it can be easily integrated into any environment as long as you don’t mind the wide strap (22mm) and big case. The strap is very soft and there’s even some padding so you can wear the watch for as long as you want. However, the light color is not stain-resistant and may get soiled very easily.
Specifications
Pros
- Solid build with durable materials
- Good-looking bezel
- Reliable quartz movement
- A soft and easy to wear leather strap
- Strong Indiglo dial illumination
Cons
- The strap is not stain-resistant
- The crown can be pulled out completely
- The bezel is fixed
Why We Chose This
The solid build and considerable size make this Timex Expedition model one of the best watches for firefighters. In addition, the bright Indiglo that’s easily activated means you can read the time or date even at night. Overall, this is a very comfortable, reliable, and useful watch for people working in the field or dealing with uncertain situations.2. Ball – Fireman Storm Chaser Pro Firefighter Watch
A timepiece that commands respect and attention. The Fireman Storm Chaser Pro from Ball Watches is a valuable accessory in any man’s wardrobe!
The design is visually attractive, with a big stainless steel case adorned with a fixed black bezel with markings and a beautiful scratch-resistant sapphire crystal lens. The exhibition back case lets you see the automatic three-hands movement hard at work and increases the appeal of the watch. The design is nicely complemented by a black leather strap with a pin buckle.
Powered by a BALL RR1402 Calibre with a power reserve of 48h, this wristwatch is also a chronograph (functionality that can be controlled using the side buttons that frame the crown).
The face is large and features three subdials and one calendar window (3 o’clock) for the day of the week and date. The three subdials service the chronograph function and measure seconds (9 o’clock), minutes (12 o’clock), and hours (6 o’clock).
The dial is black, which makes the face easy to read and follow, even though there are several complications on it. In addition to this, the movement has nicely lumed hands and hour markers, which is a specific feature for Ball watches. The Lume is colored differently for each type of marker, so there is blue for second and subdial hands, green for hour markers, and orange for the 12, 3, 6, and 9.

- Chronograph functionality
- Brightly lumed hands and hour markers
